When Indira Gandhi was invited by Forbes Burnham she came to Guyana but never made the time to sit with the victimized 'Coolies' because she did not want to jeopardize Burnham's support  of her Father's dream for the Non Alignment by being involved with the suffering of the 'Coolies' at the hands of Burnham.

         Hi Meena and others

I am not aware of the issue (removing Indian Flag), however allow me some comments.. I am first of all appalled at all the Indians who comfortably refer to ROAR as squeaking... is it a guilt or an acceptance of their own inability to do anything????? ROAR since it's formation has consistently carried the Indian torch in public and private spheres, to government, opposition and diplomatic circles. ROAR also inspired many individuals and organizations to "do something".

Yesterday the Guyana Indian Heritage Association held it's "Remembering our Fallen Jahajis", where more than 650 Indian women, men and children came not withstanding the PPP, Mashramani, Buxton and the scorching heat. They came to mourn, reflect, remember their fallen jahajis, those who were murdered, raped, kidnapped, etc. Many of the persons are from Annandale and Lusignan, and are victims or family of victims. It was a full day of prayer by Hindus, Muslim and Christians. At the end of the emotional 6 hour program, all the Indians had to stand and verbally affirm their pledge to fight for Indian freedom. The pledge reads: "Powerful Indian I am. I am now awakened by the painful cry of my people. Their blood that spilled and body bruised, battered and blistered, it is of mine too, it is my own. I will now arise to maintain, the legacy of the pure and righteous Indian victory. I see myself in all and all in me. I love my Indian people. I will care, protect and promote them and our eternal and dignified culture together. I will serve without expecting anything in return. YES, it is my bound duty. I fear no death, for I was never born and I will never die."

650 Indian said that pledge at the top of their voice less than 1/4 miles from Buxton. I dear say that is a squeak! Swami Aksharnanda who just completed 7 days of fast and vigil I front of the parliament pray for Indians to cry when it pain, not to deny the murder, rape and brutality. Many of the victims took to the stage and were glad that someone was roaring for them.

I advise/caution all Indians that the fight for Indian freedom is IN Guyana. It however makes a good discussion/study in other places.

Jahaji Zindabaad! Jahiji Jaiho!

Before we get up to moving the Indian Flag......can we truly remove out of ourselves our "Indian-ness" ? Why can't we be inspired by their will to fight and over come greater odds. Indians had a sophisticated British army against them. They were simple farmers, people that opened and welcomed new people to share their land, wealth and knowledge. Their hospitality was taken advantage of.

I have to say my heart feels still and cold reading the news and seeing the images of the burnt   Mr. Haroon.

Can we truly blame the Indian Gov't when we ourselves aren't getting up to

the challenge ?

When there is something wrong in India....the people go fanatic. Are people

really encouraged to help people who can't seem to organize to help

themselves? Do the Guyanese want that "lame" image of being saved or would

they prefer to have a hand in their own salvation? Will the problem go away

once the Indian/American/British armies leave? Who will keep the crime in

check?

How many will stand by and watch women and children be raped and killed?

Does their blood not boil?  Was help not offered which the PPP turned down? WE need to get it together first.

Having a voice (ROAR) representative of our "displeasure" at the events is a

far cry from an organized body that is making waves and putting fright in

the pants of the people who are violating our people. Stop saying we are

"ROAR" when all we are doing is squeaking !

I frankly have had enough of people who are looking for some great force to

come save them when their biggest force is amongst themselves. Same crap

with the British/India. NOW go mess with India. It took Indians a while to

figure out their strength it's time we figured out ours.

Five guys chasing one Indian man........20 Indians watching........duh !

"Where choice is set between cowardice and violence, I would advise violence...

I prefer to use arms in defense of honor, rather than remain the vile

witness of

dishonor ..." Mahatma Gandhi
